The German government decided to lift the worldwide traveling warning for its citizens starting from mid-June.
In a press conference, the German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that his country decided to lift the worldwide traveling warning for European countries, Schengen associated countries (Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein) and United Kingdom, and a new travel warning will be set for dealing with each country individually.
This step was taken by the German government to gradually restore the activity of the tourism industry in Europe and Schengen area, which was severely affected as an outcome of the COVID-19 pandemic. As Germany was tremendously affected by the Coronavirus pandemic with more than 185,000 cases have been recorded across the country.
It is worth mentioning that Spain, which is one of the most important destinations for German tourists, has decided to lift the restrictions imposed on travel ban starting from the end of this June.
