Most of the following documents are required for all types of Schengen visas. All documents must be completed/translated into English or the official language(s) of your destination country. Additional forms/documents may be needed depending on the type of visa you are applying for.

Schengen Visa Application Requirements 

Basic Required Documents:

  • Completed and signed visa application form.
  • Visa fee. The standard cost of an adult Schengen visa is 80 Euros. Certain types of applicants-including children under the age of 6, scientific researchers, most students, representatives of, as well as participants in, non-profit organizations and events of a cultural, sporting, or educational nature aged 25 or under, holders of diplomatic and service passports, and close relatives of EU citizens- are exempt from all visa fees. Please note that this cost is an estimation that is not inclusive of service fees for visa processing, which you may have to pay depending on how you submit your application.
  • Passport with the following requirements:
    • Your signature.
    • A minimum of 2 blank pages (space for your Schengen visa).
    • Issued within the past 10 years (less than 10 years old).
    • Valid for at least 3 months after the expiration date of your requested visa.
    • Previous passport (if relevant).
  • Two photos of you for identification purposes (preferably fastened with a paper clip; do not staple/glue), with the following photo requirements:
    • Passport sized (3.5 x 4.5 cm).
    • Representative of you and taken recently (within past 6 months).
    • Plain white background.
    • Forward-facing view, so that your facial features are visible (i.e. not obscured by accessories such as sunglasses) covering 32-36mm (70-80%) of the photo. Head coverings worn for religious reasons are acceptable.
  • Photocopies of:
    • Passport page showing personal information.
    • Residence permit (if applicable).
    • Previous Schengen visa (if applicable).
  • Proof of travel medical insurance, with the following requirements:
    • Minimum coverage of 30,000 EUR in the event of medically related repatriation, medical care, and/or hospitalization.
    • Validity throughout the entire visa length.
    • Validity throughout every Schengen country.
    • Clearly stated conditions on either the insurance document or the confirmation letter.
    • Note: Medical insurances of credit cards are not considered valid.
  • Reservations for flights and hotel, with the following requirements:
    • Flight reservation/travel agenda.
    • Confirmable (reserved) hotel booking, with complete address of hotel (location, contact number, booking reference number).
  • Statement from sponsor/local employer, including name, contact info (telephone and physical address) of company or sponsor describing the nature of your employment, your starting date of employment, salary, and proscribed duration of time off (expected date of return to work) and purpose of travel. If applicable- valid trade license copy for investor/partner of company.
  • Proof of financial means of the applicant in resident country, such as several months-worth of personal bank statements issued 3 months prior to application, assets and/or other relevant personal property.
  • Documents required if the traveler is a minor (under 18):
    • Letter of consent from both parents/legal guardian.
    • Passport copies of both parents/legal guardian.
    • Copy of birth certificate:
      • If minor is adopted, then proof of adoption is required.
      • If parents are divorced, then proof of divorce is needed.
      • If one or both parents are deceased, then proof of death is needed.
